Dear Ko, dear friends in the Japanese Mössbauer Community,

Let me express on behalf of IBAME and also personally by myself my deepest condolence for losing our colleague and good old friend Saburo. He was a great personality of Mössbauer spectroscopy covering many topics, various isotopes, both conventional and synchrotron-based approach. He made a remarkable contribution to both research and education.

I shall always remember his exceptional personality that I have known since 1973 when we first met in Saarbrücken in Uli Gonser's department.

Please convey my deepest sympathy to his family.

Sincerely yours,

Dénes L. Nagy
(Chair of IBAME)
